"Cooking from the Early Spring Garden" - Beginning with a brief stint as a Home Economics teacher and then continuing on with chef training, Penny Newkirk has taught cooking for over thirty years and owned her first cooking school in downtown St. Charles, IL. For the last eighteen years, Penny has been the owner of The Country Garden Cuisine Cooking School located on an 1800's farm in St. Charles, IL. Organic herbs and vegetables are grown in the school's gardens and are an intricate part of her school.
In her program, "Cooking from the Early Spring Garden", Penny will briefly discuss the very first of the vegetables and possible fruits to appear in the garden. She will then use these plants to prepare various dishes for us to taste and to be able to prepare in our own kitchens. Depending on what appears in her garden, the kinds of dishes she prepares will be a surprise, but most certainly, we can expect an evening of culinary delights!
